Earth 2049 02:54
Got a rocket ship And I’m ready to go Leaving the planet Never coming home Bitter feelings ground into an end The acrid taste of smoke prevents Wish there was a way to fix I guess that’s just how it ends Soul set to wander Out between the stars How would I feel So cold so far Should I leave for Titan Stake a claim on Mars Live in the clouds of Venus Or head for another star? Got a rocket ship And I’m ready to go Leaving the planet Never coming home My heart is so weary from the change Next gen torn from Mr. Blue Sky’s name Wish there was a way to fix I guess that’s just how it ends

Dark country roads Strains of the day Stressing, confusing, and finding the blame Is it never by choice is it ever by luck Short when comes time to pay it up Bright city streets Surrounded by shadows No longer the fields once plowed and harrowed The denizens come out at all times of the night But there’s still creatures lurking Will you come upon fright In the night time Until the time of dawn When the sun rises up Bless yourself that you’ve made it this far Around the next corner may come a sharp surprise The fear you forgotten it can no longer hide In the night time The feeling you have inside You can overcome but it’s not some that’s won A danse macabre with the monsters inside But you pick the tune that you dance to

I Hope 02:24
Lean into the shadows Lean into the light Lean into the color But it’s not black and white It’s full of spite I hope you can shake it off I hope you can find something better I hope you can live a life Where you don’t have to feel so bitter Step into the unknown Step into the new Step away from me I’ll step away from you Finally through I hope you can shake it off I hope you can find something better I hope you can live a life Where you don’t have to make them feel bitter I hope you can move along Paint yourself a beautiful picture Just stay away from me And I’ll stay away from you

Lost in dreams Is this reality? I don’t know Lost touch so long ago Thread the camel through the needle’s eye Find great riches and give it all away Walk into the desert and talk with god Become one with everything and nothing at all I miss you now But you surely aren't the same Following stars on a path far away The distance increased in a dance of space and time Past and the future a present state of mind Lost in dreams Is this reality? I missed you then But you surely aren't the same Following stars on a path far away The distance increased in a dance of space and time Past and the future a present state of mind Lost in dreams One with everything Mysteries and fantasies live in a blink Past and the future are outside what’s seen Tapped in through a means we don’t always know Sit under a fig tree to learn a bit more

Sisyphus 03:39
Madness trickery Putting chains on Hades Sisyphus You deserve this Telling gods to fuck themselves No concern for your deceit Sisyphus You deserve this Again and again The boulder goes down the mountain Punishment in the underworld Zeus is really ticked King of what you survey You want more than you can take How long can this go on? What solution can there be? Chip away at the mountain Chip away at the mountain Until it’s gone Until your gone And you’re someone new

You woke with a fever But felt a deathly chill For you could not recall the night before There was a party and a stranger An evening filled with thrills But you cannot remember any more You stumble through the bedroom Swaying along the way Going through the bathroom door And grimacing in the mirror Your face begins to fade And you feel your teeth begin to grow You’ve become a creature of the night A creature of the night is what you’ve become You panic and try to calm down You don’t know what to do When you feel a hunger you’ve never felt before The taste for something iron A feel for sinew When your roommate walks through the door You’ve become a creature of the night A creature of the night is what you’ve become They ask if you’re okay But your look is far away And the hungry you feel seems easier to explain It’d be easy to take one bite It wouldn’t hurt to try You’ve never even harmed a fly When there’s a knock at the door You don’t know who it’s for And your roommate goes to answer And opening the door It’s the stranger from the night before And they ask, “Won’t you invite me in?” You've been chosen as a creature of the night A creature of the night is what you’ve become You've become a creature of the night

Say goodbye Gotta go Won’t be long for sure At least I’m hoping for It wasn’t a lie It just wasn’t true Life plays tricks on me and you Ships crash upon distant shores And sink to the ocean floor Where will you be when you meet the darkness Steady on Plot a course I’m sure you make it to the shore Ships crash upon distant shores And sink to the ocean floor Where will you be when you meet the darkness

about

Written and recorded in the month of February 2020 for the www.rpmchallenge.com and as a challenge to myself.

I started out as a songwriter when I was 16, but around my early 30's really got into solely supporting other musicians' visions through performance and recording. With my last batch of songs written before this transition I had gone to a dark place with my songwriting. Music can become so obsessive that I had to cut myself off from songwriting, like Luke from the Force.

Many weights have been lifted since then and I'm happy to have created new music with my good friends, Matt Zappa and Tee Jay on drums.

This is an album of performance. There are no edits on this album. Everything was recorded like it was a tape machine. So no fancy splicing, auto-tune, or digital trickery. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with those methods, but I've explored them thoroughly and wanted the satisfaction of creating something raw that suited my quirkiness.

The subjects are still brooding and at times dark, but I hope it comes through that music is a way to make that all OK. Sometimes you have to stand in the shadows for a bit before you come back into the light.
